I never thought one day I would be writing about myself and my journey into the Silk Industry in preparation for launching my own website. After graduating from school thirty years ago during the recession, I had a job without much excitement but I was doing my best as a sales associate. One gorgeous day I was walking on Fashion Avenue in New York City and happened to walk into a building filled with showrooms of the most prominent fashion designers.

The first feeling of awe quickly changed to a desire to be a part of it. I would be able to connect my home country's specialties, my interest in fashion as well as my desire to work with creative people. Putting it together was not going to be easy, but I wanted to take that challenge.

That day changed my life and I never looked back. The first thing I did was get in touch with a few people whom I knew from the textile industry. Within a few weeks I received some gorgeous samples of Silk Dupioni Solids, stripes and plaids and  I got started with just a few samples. Day by day I spent hours walking the streets of New York City, trying to get my fabrics in front of top designers and bulk buyers. I spent hours calling and leaving message after message for buyers, hoping for just one response. Slowly, I built up my business and was able to work with some of the top brands in the world. No matter where my business takes me through the years, I always remember those days fondly, and they are a reminder to me of my hard work and perseverance. Till today I always tell my kids about my first appointments with the big designer showrooms where I walked in with hangers of Silk Dupioni stripes and plaids. I can never forget those days.

Working in this industry, what I have learned is that we are relevant only when we add value to our client’s businesses so we constantly strive for this. I’ve learned so much about how every detail counts when working with clients. We have grown so much from the days of those first 15 hangers to our now vast in-house inventory that ensures fast and accurate service - Our passion is textiles and our dedication is to you.

In the last thirty years, we have worked with designers and distributors - in the apparel, bridal, accessory and home furnishing industries, from Anna Sui and Vera Bradley, to Talbots and Victoria’s Secret. Now, we want to bring the luxury of silk fabrics to the true creatives–the costume designers and craftsmen working on their own one-of-a-kind projects.
